SUMMARY:ALIA Webinar: Clearing the GHG Reporting Cobwebs
DESCRIPTION:As sustainability continues to take center stage\, the myriad of GHG (Greenhouse Gas) reporting requirements has caused confusion for many organizations\, particularly in understanding the differences between various standards and their purposes. From GRI\, IFRS/ISSB\, CDP\, to TCFD and PACT\, companies in our region must navigate these acronyms and their specific reporting criteria. \nIn the oil & gas industry\, especially in upstream operations\, there is increased emphasis (and in some regions\, mandates) on methane emissions reporting under OGMP 2.0. OGMP 2.0 stands for the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0\, a comprehensive reporting framework designed to help oil and gas companies accurately measure and report their methane emissions. Launched by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 2020 as an enhancement of the original OGMP framework\, OGMP 2.0 aims to address the growing concerns over methane’s role in climate change\, as methane is a potent greenhouse gas. \nGiven that the lubricants industry operates downstream in the oil & gas value chain\, understanding these implications is crucial. \nMore importantly\, GHG emissions reporting is no longer just a concern for publicly listed companies. Upcoming regulations\, such as those in Singapore targeting even non-publicly listed entities\, along with the anticipated expansion of carbon taxes across the region\, necessitate a deeper understanding of reporting requirements. \nAdding to the complexity is the growing trend of companies quantifying their product carbon footprint in addition to corporate-level carbon footprint reporting. For those tackling both\, what are the implications in terms of methodology\, data boundaries\, and reporting standards? \nThis webinar will demystify these reporting challenges.
