The primary goal of Catena-X is to create a secure and reliable data exchange platform that allows companies to share and access data throughout the automotive value chain. This includes data related to manufacturing\, logistics\, sustainability and other aspects of the automotive industry. \nThe initiative aims to improve efficiency\, reduce costs and enable new business models by leveraging the potential of data-driven services. It also aims to establish common standards and promote collaboration among different companies in the industry. Catena-X is supported by various industry organisations\, including automotive manufacturers\, suppliers and technology companies. DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Walter Bunting\, Director OEM AP\, Director CTS Driveline AP\, Afton Chemical Asia Pte Ltd \nThe electrification of drivetrain systems has been a move that cannot be reversed\, along with global emission rules that are becoming more stringent and the search for increasing efficiency. Annual NEV sales in Asia are rising very quickly\, particularly in the Chinese market. In order to better meet the need for fluid in eMobility applications\, numerous industry organizations have started their own task forces to develop new testing procedures or ETF specifications. As hybridization (hybrid and PHEV) and BEVs continue to coexist in Asia for the foreseeable future\, wet motor integration\, high rotational speed\, improved efficiency\, and longer durability\, as well as high voltage systems\, will be major technology development trends for eDrivetrain systems. \nAlong with the introduction of new materials and tougher operating conditions into the eAxle system\, we identified eight important performance characteristics for a new EDF design\, three of which have a significant impact on eAxle efficiency: fluid viscosity\, traction coefficient\, and thermal property. Lower fluid viscosity could significantly reduce fluid churning loss to boost efficiency in an eAxle system with high rotation. However\, the protection provided by ETF against excessive pressure and wear performances on gears and bearings may be compromised by a thinner fluid coating brought on by a lower fluid viscosity\, therefore a strong additive technology is required to offer adequate hardware protections. \nLower traction coefficients could enable for smoother gear mesh due to substantial friction reductions\, resulting in improved mechanical efficiency.
