Brief Overview
Internal combustion engines require engine oils to operate properly as the oils provide the necessary lubrication to overcome friction and wear between moving engine parts. In this presentation, I will focus on the fundamental issues concerning friction and wear that occur in internal combustion engines.

Key Topics

  • How lubrication works under different conditions

  • Different modes of wear

  • Examples of wear-induced damage to engine hardware

  • Effects on engine performance due to poor lubrication

  • Discussion on lubricant selection
