About the Course
Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) are becoming increasingly important as industries respond to growing sustainability expectations, environmental regulations, and the need to reduce the impact of lubricant loss in environmentally sensitive areas.
Despite growing interest, there is still limited understanding of EAL definitions, standards, performance requirements, and practical adoption considerations across many parts of Asia.
This one-day technical training course provides participants with a practical understanding of EALs through technical presentations, case studies, panel discussions, and interactive sessions led by experts from across the lubricant value chain.
Participants will explore regulatory requirements, testing standards, formulation and performance considerations, applications, product selection, and the commercial and operational factors influencing EAL adoption, with particular relevance to Asian markets.

Programme Overview
The course will take participants through the EAL landscape from awareness to practical adoption, beginning with definitions, terminology and key environmental characteristics, including the distinctions between bio-based, biodegradable, environmentally friendly and EAL products.
The programme will examine regulatory drivers, international standards, ecolabels, testing requirements and certification schemes, alongside technical considerations such as biodegradability, aquatic toxicity, bioaccumulation, formulation, performance and compatibility.
Participants will also explore application and product-selection considerations across marine, hydropower, industrial, construction, forestry and other environmentally sensitive sectors, supported by practical examples and real-world case studies.
The course will conclude by examining the business case and practical adoption of EALs, including lifecycle considerations, total cost of ownership, procurement, customer expectations, product availability and barriers to wider adoption across Asian markets.
